Lazy Sundays

I love Sundays. DJ doesn't have to work most Sundays, and it's the only day we get to spend the whole time together. Today we are just relaxing....I am playing online while DJ plays his video games, but we are in the same room and we are laughing and talking and spending time with Nate. It's great! And Nate is very peaceful sleeping on daddy's shoulder. I got to sleep in today because DJ gave Nate his bottle. Life is good!

We are really looking forward to my mom's visit this coming week. She is coming in on Tuesday and staying until the following Tuesday. She won't be with us the whole time...she's got all of her grandbabies to visit, so we will only have her a short time I'm sure! But it will be nice to have her here. And you better believe I'm putting her to work as soon as she gets here...I've gotta go get my hair cut for my next interview so she's on Grammie duty Tuesday afternoon! Welcome, mom! I'm so excited to get my hair cut! I always wait way too long so that by the time I go in, my hair is way dry. And I'm the ponytail queen right now because I can't stand fixing it. Yay for hair cuts!!

Ok, well I don't really have much else to talk about. This is probably a pretty boring post, but hey, it's a lazy Sunday afternoon! I'll try to get some more pictures/videos up soon. Speaking of videos...is anyone else having a hard time viewing my video of Nate? I can't view it, it says it is unavailable. I don't get it. Anyone have any suggestions? Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone!! And I hope my Amarillo peeps are digging themselves out of all that SNOW!! You can send some our way if you want! I miss it.

I take it back, I take it back!!!

Ok, I know everyone has had one of those moments where they hear themselves saying something, and immediately they think, "Oh NO! I've jinxed myself!" And yep....just as soon as you've said whatever it was you said the inevitable happens....your words come back to haunt you!!

In my most recent scenario, my blog came back to haunt me. You know, the very last blog I posted Sunday in which I said that Nate was sleeping at least 5 hours a night? Oh yeah, that one. Well of course that very night he woke up multiple times, and I thought to myself, "It's ok, he had just not gotten a consistent sleep pattern down yet, but it's not going to keep happening." But it HAS! Every night this week he hasn't slept more than 3 hours at a time. So....I am telling anyone who is reading this: I TAKE IT BACK!!! No more bragging about sleeping, it's too important to jinx!

Ok, I feel better already. Maybe I have lifted the curse and tonight will be better! :)

Sunday, sunday

Wow, is the weekend over already? Not that I have to go anywhere tomorrow, but I only get the one day with DJ and it just passes too fast!! Admittedly we did sleep in VERY late today, but we went to bed late and DJ has been working 11 hour shifts and getting only about 6 hours of sleep on weeknights. So it was nice, but it did put our plans for the day back a bit. Also the phone call from PJ's Campus Books about the credit cards not working and us having to go up to the store did not help!! Especially after being up at the store last night until about 10:45pm moving stacks of books and packing them up. My neck and back hurt. UGH! On to Costco for formula and water...then Target for non-food items....then to Marketstreet for groceries. What an exciting Sunday.

I do have some exciting Nate news that I have neglected to report until today. He had his 2 month checkup last Monday and got his 4 shots...that was not fun. However, he was measured and he now weighs 10 lbs 10 oz and is in the 25th percentile for weight, 30th percentile for height and 25th percentile for his head size. Last time he only was measuring in the 5th percentile for all of those things (although I wasn't told this at the time). So he's growing fast and is well within the normal range! :) Also, the doctor heard the clicking again in his hips so she referred us to get an ultrasound on his hips to make sure everything was still developing normally. So Tuesday we went in and had his hips looked at and thankfully everything was OK!! What a relief! I couldn't stand the thought of having to put him in a little harness for 4-6 weeks so that his hips could grow properly. Now we don't have to worry about it! (Even though we thought this issue was over last month....)

Developmentally, he is right on track as well. He is doing lots of tummy time and lifts his head quite well. He follows me around the room with his eyes when I walk away from him, he's smiling a LOT lately (and not just from gas!), and his starting to grab hold of things on purpose. Oh, and he coos and talks to us so much, it's so cute! We have him listening to music all the time and all different kinds of music. Lullabies typically put him right to sleep, but "dance" music puts a smile on his face and he seems to move his arms and legs a little more! It is such a joy to watch him grow and develop. Everytime he does something for the first time we get so excited!

Ok, enough bragging on my little guy. Well...maybe just one more....he is sleeping at least 5 hours every night now! Sometimes even more. This is the best thing, especially for me. I have always been a good sleeper and have missed my sleep the last two months! I might not be so forgetful, clumsy, frustrated, exhausted or irritable now that I'm getting more sleep! This remains to be seen. That's all for now, I need a shower! :)

Just a boring ole update

Apparently I don't blog enough....according my friend LISA MARIE!!! She called me out on facebook and challenged me to blog more, so here we are! :) Oh Lisa, if only I had enough interesting things to talk about....

Our niece and nephew have been here this weekend hanging out with Nate. It has been so much fun! I only wish DJ didn't have to work so much, but that is a lost cause. And Stephen even cleaned our apartment for us while we were at DJ's work, thanks, Stephen!! Nate is in love with Jessica. He has slept on her shoulder all day today! The first day he pooped and spit up on her. We told her that he was just marking his territory! Sorry ladies....Jessica already asked Nate to be her Valentine so he is no longer on the market! :)

I had a preliminary phone interview with a lady at UT Arlington Friday afternoon. It was a great conversation, and I'm hoping that she calls me in this week for a face-to-face interview. Other than that, we are just waiting for tomorrow so we can cheer on the Cowboys. The kids are staying until after the game, then unfortunately they have to go back to work/school and we will no longer have our helper elves. It has been so nice, and we have both caught up a LITTLE bit on our sleep.

GO COWBOYS!!!!

Sleep.....glorious sleep!

DJ and I are so excited that our nephew and niece are staying with us this weekend! We are hoping that we will actually get to sleep through the night, because they will be hanging out with Nate! And considering we haven't gotten much sleep the last few nights, I'm really looking forward to laying my head on that pillow!

Everyone please say a prayer for me tomorrow afternoon because I have a phone interview with UT-Arlington! It's for an advising position, and I feel somewhat confident about it. However, I have had my hopes dashed by many employers lately so I'm not counting on anything here. It would be great to get back into a university job that is somewhat stable and I can pick up my retirement plan where I left off in San Marcos! The commute will be pretty long, but I can live with it.

Alright, it's time to go night-night now. I'll update this after my interview tomorrow and let you all know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed for me! :)

Not so little anymore....

Well, Nate has officially grown out of his newborn sized clothes. I was so sad last night when I boxed up all the newborns and realized that he had only worn some of those outfits one or two times. I know I should be happy that he's growing and healthy, and I AM, but sometimes I want him to stay tiny forever! So I went through all of his new clothes that he got for Christmas and various gifts and discovered that he really doesn't have many clothes sized 0-3 months. Good thing he's been hitting so many growth spurts and won't be in this size for very long!! I'm definitely not worried about it, he's got plenty to get him through the next few weeks, and he'll actually get to wear all of them a few times before we box them up. As for the next size (3-6 mos), he is definitely set....he's got tons of that size!

Ok, on to a different topic..............my poor DJ has been so stressed out at work lately because this time of year (beginning of a new semester) is so crazy at a textbook store. And since he is basically in charge of his store and has only a few staff members to help him, he is drowning in boxes of new books, web orders, paperwork, and all kinds of other projects. So I've been going up to the store the last few days to help him get stuff done...not getting paid of course. And since he's now salary and NOT making overtime, Nebraska Book Company is really getting their money's worth because neither of us is getting paid to work these extra hours!!! But at this point with me not working, we have to make sure he doesn't lose this job because too much depends on it. And I can't stand to see him so stressed out, it just kills me. Nate has been coming with me and for the most part he is a good helper! He sleeps in his carseat until he's hungry...then he's awake and I can't get anything done. But hey, every little bit helps!

We are looking forward to this weekend because our niece and nephew from San Marcos are coming up to visit us! We can't wait to spend some time with Stephen and Jessica, and they are really happy to come see Nate! Hopefully DJ won't have to work the whole time and will get to spend some quality time with them....but they are really coming for Nate anyways! Ok, better get back to the job search. Why doesn't anyone want to at least interview me? I really am a good employee!!! Oh well.

Happy Birthday, babe!!!

Today is DJ's birthday and we started it off with a breakfast of french toast, eggs and bacon. YUMMY! You know we ate too much heavy food this holiday.....when I asked him what he wanted me to cook for his birthday dinner, he requested grilled chicken salads!!

Looks like we will have a great day here at home with DJ playing his new video games, me playing online and downloading music to my iPod, and Cowboys football!! I wish every day were Sunday. Have a blessed day, everyone!

What a difference a year makes! Goodbye 2009!

I don't know if any year can top 2009....so many great things happened for us! DJ and I were talking last night about where we were last year on New Year's Eve. I was visiting him in Kyle and we were spending our first NYE together at his place. It was a pretty uneventful night, but we were so happy just to be together after all we had been through the year before. I ended up getting SO SICK the very next day...some kind of stomach virus or food poisoning, and he took such good care of me that I knew he was the most special person I ever met. That weekend was significant in our relationship.

So many things happened after that and so quickly! We got pregnant, got married, our families met, DJ moved here to be with me, and finally our lives merged. And then Nate was born! He was the best gift of the year....no, make that the entire decade! And we spent NYE 2009 much like last year, only at our own home and with the addition of our beautiful son. I can't believe I started out 2009 as a single gal living with her sister and ended it married and a new mommy! It's incredible.

We can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for us. We are looking forward to all of Nate's "first" moments and all of the activities that being new parents will bring. I wish the best for all of our friends and family and give thanks for all of our loved ones. You have all been so important in our lives, and now you will get to know Nate as well. Have a blessed year everyone!
